Prevention wherever children and adolescents take part outside school
La Confianza Previene works with community organisations, scout groups, religious communities, clubs, municipalities and companies. It prepares the adults responsible for children and adolescents, works with families and, once the adults around them are prepared, with the children and adolescents themselves.
Why we work with organisations
Child sexual abuse happens mostly in spaces of trust. Many organisations that bring children and adolescents together have no protocol, or have one that the people in charge do not know how to apply. Protecting children is the responsibility of adults and institutions; the programme gives them the tools to carry it out.
What it offers
Each proposal is designed around the organisation, its local context and the ages of those taking part.
Red que Cuida workshop
For group leaders, coordinators and staff. It rehearses the first response to a disclosure: receiving, containing and referring.
Training for intermediaries
Training for people who work directly with children and adolescents, with support to build protocols and response pathways for a concern or a disclosure.
Workshops with children and adolescents
Prevention workshops adapted to their age and context, on rights, care of their bodies and whom to turn to.
Workshops with families
Sessions for parents and carers on which signs to look out for, how to talk at home and how to respond if a child or adolescent tells them something.
Advice to the organisation
Guidance for the organisation in situations of risk and a review of its prevention and safeguarding policies, with responsible referral when a case needs specialist care.
Prevention campaigns and stands
Awareness-raising days and a presence at fairs and community events, with materials to talk about prevention.
How we work
- The responsibility lies with adults. The programme does not shift the task of protection onto children and adolescents.
- Adults first. Before working with children and adolescents, we make sure there are adults prepared to receive what they say.
- No fear and no blame. Workshops name warning signs and risk patterns without describing how abuse operates and without images that expose children or adolescents.
- With records. Every activity includes an evaluation by participants and feedback to the organisation.
