Prevention Area
Prevention grounded in children’s rights
Preventing abuse is the responsibility of adults and institutions. We work so that children and adolescents grow up in contexts of care, are listened to and find people who are available to help.
The architecture of our prevention strategy
Prevention includes everyday care, the response to a concern and support after a violation of rights. At each stage, adults must take on concrete responsibilities and be accountable for their decisions.
Level 1
Primary prevention: strengthen
We reduce risk factors and strengthen protective factors in families, schools and communities.
- Training for the adults responsible for care
- Activities with children and adolescents
- Territorial outreach
- Awareness-raising campaigns
Level 2
Secondary prevention: detect
Detecting situations of risk early so that the violence does not continue.
- Detection in institutions
- Teacher training
- Technical risk assessments
Level 3
Tertiary prevention: reduce
Direct action after abuse has occurred to minimise harm, restore rights and prevent secondary victimisation.
- Specialised support
- Mitigating after-effects
- Repairing bonds
PHASE 01 - WORK ON THE GROUND
Primary prevention: strengthening the social environment
We work with families, schools and organisations so that adults know how to anticipate risk and protect children and adolescents.
Training workshops
Training for adults responsible for care, and activities with children and adolescents to learn about their rights, develop critical thinking and respect their own and others’ boundaries. Learning to say “no” is no substitute for adult protection.
Territorial outreach
Active presence in communities and organisations to strengthen local networks.
Campaigns
Communication campaigns on the care of children and adolescents.
Teacher training
Tools for teachers as the first agents of protection in schools.
PHASE 02 - TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT
Secondary prevention: the rigour of early detection
When there is a concern, the right response is to listen, assess protection needs and activate the relevant support and protocols. Children and adolescents do not have to investigate or prove on their own what happened.
Detection in institutions
Early warning protocols designed for school settings and social organisations.
Risk assessments
Evidence-based technical assessment to identify the critical points where protection is lacking.
Advanced training
Technical training in crisis management for school psychosocial teams (duplas psicosociales) and leadership teams.
phase 03 - mitigating the impact
Tertiary prevention: reducing the impact after harm has occurred
Prevention does not end when abuse occurs. We act to reduce harm, restore rights and prevent secondary victimisation through our support network.
Support must respect the pace and the decisions of people who have been victims, without requiring them to turn harm into strength.
Mitigating after-effects
Early intervention to reduce the traumatic impact and prevent emotional harm from becoming chronic.
Justice without secondary victimisation
Guidance on caring for children and adolescents during the reporting process, avoiding unnecessary questioning and respecting their participation and privacy.
Restoring the environment
Work with the immediate family to rebuild a space of protection and trust after the crisis.
Coordinating networks
Coordination with health and justice services, following up on care needs and on the responses received.
Prevention programmes

We develop specialised programmes to strengthen the social fabric and protect the integrity of children and adolescents.
